Debbie Strong is a freelance photographer whose work has been featured in Joshua Tree Voice, Yucaipa News Mirror, Living with Wildfire Magazine editions, and an art gallery exhibit in downtown Los Angeles.

Debbie retired as a fire captain from CAL FIRE in 2018 after a rewarding 30-year career in the fire service. She always had a passion for photography, and after retirement, took interest in exploring different genres, including landscape, nature, astrophotography, photojournalism, macro photography, fashion, and portrait.

She was fortunate to be mentored by talented photographers Casey Kiernan (documentary filmmaker based out of Joshua Tree), Scott Robert Lim (Sony artisan based out of Los Angeles), and Rachel Jones Ross (Sony Ambassador based out of Alberta, Canada).

Her photographic inspirations include Annie Leibovitz, Ansel Adams, Casey Kiernan, Scott Robert Lim, Rachel Jones Ross, Albert Dros, Alyn Wallace, and Antoni Cladera.

When Debbie is not behind the camera, she enjoys camping, hiking, ceramics, and acrylic painting. She’s also the author of the upcoming memoir, Hearts in Focus.

“If you see something that moves you, and then snap it, you keep the moment.” —Linda McCartney.

“I’ve known Debbie for many years, and she has always been a dedicated and passionate photographer. She’s never afraid to try new techniques and won’t stop until she’s mastered them. Her compositions are impeccable—always infused with a creative twist. It wasn’t until later that I discovered she was also a talented writer. I’m so glad she’s combined both of her passions, and I always look forward to seeing her latest creative work!”
